This summer, Nua Healthcare Services proudly handed over a new community garden to the people of Gormanston in County Meath, created through connection, collaboration, and
a shared vision for inclusion.
The idea first began in 2023, when members of the Gormanston Community Association visited Abbey Blooms Botanical Gardens & Café in Multyfarnham. Owned and operated by Nua, Abbey Blooms was developed to promote inclusion, wellbeing, and social connection. During their visit, the group saw firsthand how a thoughtfully designed garden could bring a community together and create lasting impact.
Inspired by what they experienced, conversations began about creating something similar in Gormanston. Nua offered to develop and donate a garden to the community, transforming an underused green space across from Nua Healthcare, Gormanston into a vibrant, welcoming place for everyone to enjoy.
Now complete, the Gormanston Community Garden is filled with trees, flowers, and shrubs, along with handcrafted wooden benches for visitors to sit, reflect, and connect with nature. The space was designed by Nua’s Head Gardener, Karl Dignam, with accessibility and calmness in mind.
To mark the official handover, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held onsite. Sharon Burke, Chairperson of the Gormanston Community Association, formally opened the garden, while Nua CEO Noel Dunne shared a few words of thanks, acknowledging the positive relationship that has grown between Nua and the wider Gormanston community.
This garden stands as a meaningful symbol of partnership and inclusion. It reflects what is possible when people come together with a shared goal and a willingness to give back.
