This month, a group of thirty-two residents and team members from across the service set off on a three-day summer trip to County Kerry, based at the renowned Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney. Excitement was high from the start, and the trip proved to be a fantastic mix of scenic adventures, shared experiences and plenty of fun.

On day one, the group explored the beautiful surroundings of Muckross House, enjoying a guided tour of the historic home and gardens. This was followed by a traditional jaunting car ride, which brought plenty of smiles and laughter. Later in the afternoon, they visited the peaceful Torc Waterfall to take in the views and fresh Kerry air. That evening, everyone made the most of the hotel’s amenities, gathering for dinner and enjoying the lively atmosphere with drinks and live entertainment.

Day two was packed with adventure. With Flynns Coaches leading the way, the group set off on a scenic journey over the Kerry Mountains, passing through picturesque landscapes along the famous Ring of Kerry. They arrived in Dingle to visit the Oceanworld Aquarium and enjoyed a boat trip on a privately chartered vessel, which was a highlight for many. The day ended with another relaxed evening back at the hotel.

On the final morning, the group took a gentle walk through the breathtaking Gap of Dunloe, reflecting on a trip filled with new memories, friendships and a strong sense of togetherness. The visit wrapped up with lunch before the journey home.

The trip had something for everyone, from sightseeing and fresh air to great food and good company. It was a well-deserved break and a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time together in a relaxed and memorable setting. Sincere thanks to the CLaD Hub team for organising the trip and to all the fantastic frontline team members who supported it.
