We are proud to announce that Cois Dalua, Nua Healthcare’s Approved Centre for Mental Health in County Cork, has recently completed a significant expansion—marking an important milestone in mental health provision in Ireland.

Originally a 16-bed centre, Cois Dalua now offers an additional seven beds—three added to the main building and four created through the transformation of Kelleher’s Cottage into a pre-stepdown unit. This newly developed space will support individuals in preparing for more independent living, offering a more tailored and progressive approach to care.

As part of the wider upgrade, the centre also introduced new communal areas, family rooms, and recreational spaces to enrich daily life and social connections. The gardens were refreshed, the sensory and relaxation room underwent a full revamp, and a brand-new commercial kitchen and updated dining area were added. An MDT office was also included to support effective interdisciplinary care.

These improvements not only increase our capacity to support individuals in need of mental health services but also significantly enhance the environment and quality of life for those already living in Cois Dalua. At a time when such services are urgently needed, we are proud to welcome seven more individuals into a safe, structured, and empowering space.

A special thank you goes to the residents, staff, and management of Cois Dalua, whose flexibility, patience, and support made these enhancements possible. Completing such a project within a working home is no small task, and their cooperation ensured the works could take place with minimal disruption.

This expansion reflects Nua’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred mental health support in Ireland—now with the space, resources, and vision to help even more people on their journey toward recovery and independence.
