The Company

Nua Healthcare specialises in providing Residential care, Community outreach and Day services to adults and children with complex support requirements on both the Intellectual Disability and Mental Health spectrums. The Post:

Nua Healthcare Services is currently recruiting suitably qualified nurses across the following spectrums for the Kildare region: 

  • Intellectual disability nursing
  • Learning disability nursing
  • Psychiatric nursing
  • Mental health nursing
  • General nursing

Career Progression:

Career opportunities available up to and including Clinical Nurse Manager 3. In addition to this, specialist areas of nursing are available specific to relevant individual skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To oversee the Health and Wellbeing of all Services Users within the business
  • To promote the Safe Management and Administration of Medication
  • To act as a resource person to all staff teams in view of the health needs of individuals
  • Support the development and implementation of Health Assessments, Medication Plans and all supporting documents outlining supports for individuals including: personal plans, epilepsy plans, diabetic plans etc.
  • Ensure that all Health Action Plans are delivered appropriately to all Service Users
  • Promote good relationships with primary health care services in each individual’s community
  • Communicate and liaise with the Multi-Disciplinary Team
  • Identify supports and work in partnership with Service Users, their family and other professionals as necessary
  • Support service users with health appointments and follow through on recommendations
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to service users

Clinical Supervision:

We recognise the importance of clinical supervision whereby a “Nurses Forum” is facilitated on a monthly basis, which includes group supervision. In addition, individual supervision is provided on a monthly basis, through the Clinical Coordinator/CMN1. 

Essential Criteria: 

  • Degree in Nursing
  • An Bord Altranais registered
  • Flexible and adaptable nature
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience in managing or working in a service for individuals with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities and/or Mental Health
  • Up-to-date knowledge of HIQA regulations
