Participants explore the world of work by ‘shadowing’ someone for a day in the workplace as they go about their normal working routine.
Melvin from Nua Healthcare's Westmeath house, participated in this year's Job Shadow day at Mullingar's Value Centre Cash and Carry.
Pat, (on the right in this picture) and a Value Centre employee, was Melvin’s mentor during his Job Shadow day.
Melvin and Pat worked hard together, moving pallets and stocking the shelves. Part of Melvin’s task was to check the dates on the produce and to face off the stock on the shelves. Both Melvin and Pat worked very well together as a team and even shared a few laughs and a few mugs of tea together along the way!!
Melvin met lots of staff and customers at Value Centre and really enjoyed his days work there. A special thanks to the management and staff at Value Centre Mullingar for welcoming and supporting Melvin during this year's Job Shadow! On behalf of us all at Nua Healthcare, we would like to say a big well done to Melvin. We heard you were a great asset to the team! Keep up the great work!
Job Shadow Day is all about highlighting the valuable contribution people with disabilities can and do make at work. It also gives employers an opportunity to express their commitment to inclusion in the workplace.
