Nua's Mental Health Community Residence opens in Kildare
Nua Healthcare, a leading private provider of Intellectual Disability and Mental Health Services, has officially opened its new Mental Health Community Residence, in Co Kildare. This new centre, Teach Folláine, which means ‘Place of Wellbeing’, enables Nua to deliver high quality care and support to individuals with varied mental health conditions and associated needs. In doing so Nua Healthcare is enhancing the standards of excellence in care for people with mental health needs in the County Kildare area.
As a mental health community residence Teach Folláine is staffed by a Centre Manager, Deputy Managers, Nurses, Social Care Professionals and Assistant Social Care Workers. It has generated 30 employment opportunities in the local area. Nua’s mental health services provide 24-hour care and support to adults with mental health needs. The opening of Teach Folláine follows on from the opening of Nua’s Specialist Rehabilitation Unit (Cois Dalua) in June 2018. Situated in rural north Cork this service is registered as an Approved Centre under the Mental Health Commission and provides progressive, rehabilitative focused care to adults with severe and enduring mental health needs.
Our new mental health service is just one of 8 new centres that will be opened by Nua Healthcare in 2019 and marks the continued expansion of the group and delivery on its commitment to create 800 new jobs over three years (2016-2019).
As well as developing its mental health services Nua Healthcare continues to develop its high-quality residential services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. In so doing, jobs are created in local communities across Ireland. Of the 8 Centres to be opened in 2019, 7 focus on the needs of people that have intellectual disabilities and other complex needs. In total more than 250 jobs have been created this year alone across Counties Waterford, Kildare, Dublin, Carlow, Laois, Offaly, Wexford and Clare.
These developments form an important part in progressing the Government’s national policy on de-congregation and ensuring Service Users with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs are provided with more appropriate accommodation as they move from the traditional type settings. Nua Healthcare’s facilities offer Service Users a much-improved quality of life, with greater independence and choice in everyday living, offering them the opportunity to live with a small group of people and to have their own space within a home in the community.

Nua Healthcare is proud to announce a recently renewed international accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in 2019, having achieved an outstanding 96.5% conformance against 1,630 standards applied during its recent survey. This re-accreditation will last for a further 3 years.
