Nua Healthcare aiming for FETAC accreditation

Saturday 04, July 2009

Nua Healthcare are currently seeking to obtain FETAC accreditation for our day service, Kilbride Mill in Portarlington. This day service provides services to people with Asperger Syndrome, HFA and learning disabilities (on alternate days). If successful in our application, we will be in a position to deliver courses up to FETAC level 5 to all service users in our organisation.

We are confident that we can meet the criteria and have engaged an external educational consutlancy firm, Ables CT, to support us in our QA model. We have finalised our QA model and are now working on the specific courses which we hope to deliver in the Autumn. We envisage delivering courses in the areas of Life Skills, Social Skills, Computers, Drama and Catering.

Nua Healthcare feel that the FETAC model is highly suitable for the needs of all our client group. We feel the model allows Nua Healthcare to include all of our service users, no matter what their functioning level. Individuals with Asperger Syndrome can pursue up to and including a LEVEL 5 certificate, the equivalent of an honours leaving certificate, whilst individuals with mild to moderate learning disabilities will also be included with the provision of Levels 1, 2 and 3.
